We first found out about the Franschhoek Wine Tram in a Cape Town tourism booklet and thought this would be a great experience. So we hired a little car in Cape Town and off went to Franschoek. We did make our booking before the time as these tours are extremely popular.
The ticket office is very easy to find as it looks just like the tram and buses. We quickly got our tickets then settled down for a cup of coffee before the start of the tour.
Sometimes all you want to do is go camping. If you can combine a weekend away doing light painting with camping, all the better. We booked a campsite at Olifants River Lodge just outside of Middelburg, Mpumalanga. We arrived there late Friday afternoon, the weather was perfect. There were a few clouds in the sky, but nothing drastic.
Sometimes one is at the right place at the right time to witness something quite incredible. While visiting the Walter Sisulu Botanical gardens we were lucky enough to see this little night adder attempting to eat this huge frog. Now this does not seem to be an unusual thing for night adders, but it is probably best if they are left alone to finish their meal.
As more and more people started gathering around the night adder gave up on its meal and decided to call it a day, slithering past us in the flower beds.
