Our favourite way to travel is to stop wherever we can to take photos or have coffee. On our way back to Johannesburg from Welkom, we stopped for coffee in Parys and came across the Plum Tree coffee shop and Candyman sweet shop.
The shop is a treasure trove of interesting old tins and treasures. There is seating both inside and out on the stoep.
Just outside of Welkom on the R710 is a unique little place called “Die Melkkan”. Here you will find all sorts of items that no longer serve a purpose, from shoes, to windmills, to bath tubs. You name it, it is there and has been cut up, repainted or decorated.
The little shop and coffeeshop are a great place to meet and enjoy a cuppa away from town.
